If you know about Facebook ads, you know how powerful lookalike audiences can be. Today we’re going to talk about how to use lookalike audiences to scale your MyDrop.Shop store. This is the key to taking home major profits with your dropshipping store. Every huge dropshipper is utilizing the power of lookalike audiences to make a fulltime income online.

So the first question is, what exactly are lookalike audiences? Well, a lookalike audience is an audience built from a seed audience based on behaviours from your store. You can make lookalike audiences based on 95% video views, those who viewed a specific web page, those who added to cart, initiated checkout and purchased.

There are more possibilities but those are the main ones. Let’s take 95% video views as an example. We would create a custom audience of everyone who watched 95% or more of our Facebook video ad. Anyone who watched at least 95% of our ad is likely to be interested in the product and a good potential customer.

After creating a custom audience we need to wait for up to an hour to allow for the audience to populate. Once you see the “Ready” sign, we can begin creating our lookalike audiences.

Now we’re ready to start creating those lookalike audiences. We’re going to take the custom audience we just created and use them to create lookalike audiences. Our custom audience is the seed audience from which we will grow a lookalike audiences. When creating your lookalike audience, you will have the option to select a country from which to base it off.

I’m guessing most of your customers will be coming from the USA. In that case, we will select the USA as our seed country. We can create lookalike audiences for other well performing countries further down the line. There is also the option to create a lookalike audience from 1-10%. A 1% audience will be the smallest and most targeted audience while a 10% one will be the largest and least targeted.

Theoretically the 1% audience should bring the most sales but it doesn’t always work that way. That’s why we need to test every percent to ensure we are leaving no stone unturned. I would recommend creating 10 audiences from 1-10%. This will give you a wide variety of audiences to work with.

It’s a Numbers Game

Not every audience will be a home run but we’re going to test so may to improve our odds. Allow these audiences to populate for an hour like you did with the custom audiences. We can repeat this process for every other action on our store. The closer we get to purchases, the better the audience should be in terms of sales.

When we create lookalike audiences from people who have purchase something from our store, Facebook is creating a highly relevant audience for those who like to buy! I recommend creating two new ad sets a day to keep finding profitable ad sets. Lookalike audiences cannot be found right away.

Facebook needs a certain number of relevant actions in order to have enough data to create a lookalike audience. That’s why it’s better to start at video views or those who have viewed the product page. These are the easiest to get and thus purchases are the hardest. Therefore purchase should be the last lookalike audience you create. The more data we give Facebook the better. Ideally we want 250 purchase before creating a lookalike audience although 100 is the minimum accepted.
