This is a common question I get asked and one that mostly comes from beginners. The question is “Should I start one or two dropshipping stores?”. The answer is coming up in this article. Let’s first discuss the rationale behind starting two dropshipping stores. Keeping in mind starting one dropshipping store is the default position.

Some beginners think by starting two dropshipping stores they will be doubling their income. This is not how it works folks. If this was the case we would all have twenty stores and become millionaires overnight.

The truth is as human beings we only have so much energy. The more projects we have on our plate the more our energy and focus is split. This is not necessarily a bad thing for some but as beginners we must focus. This will allow us to concentrate on what actually matters and what does not.

My guess is most of you are working a full time job or are busy students. We do not have all day to spend on our dropshipping stores. With that said, we need to spend our time wisely. If we are working on two stores, our already limited time will become even more limited as it will have to be split.

Should I Start One or Two Dropshipping Stores?

As a beginner, you should start one store. Starting two stores when you can barely manage one would be a miscalculation of resources. The best plan is to go all in on one store. When you do this, you can give one hundred percent of your time, energy and finances towards it.

Finances is a topic often not talked about. My guess is a lot of you will not have the money to spend on two stores. That means double the ad spend which can add up if you take a while to become profitable.

I’ve been presented with the objection “Will two stores not improve my chances of becoming successful by reducing the chance of failure?” To that I would say, “I understand your point but it doesn’t play out like this in reality”. By opening two stores right away, you’re decreasing your chances of having success with each individual store.

I would say to focus on one store at a time. If that store becomes unsuccessful, open another store in it’s place. Your second store will have a much greater chance of success. This is because you can take everything you’ve learned from the previous store and apply it to your current one.

What If You Are Experienced?

The question of “Should I start one or two dropshipping stores?”, is different if you are an experienced dropshipper. In this case, you can open another store to increase your revenue and profits. Only do this if your initial store is running smoothly and at a profit. Don’t forget you will have to hire more virtual assistants and dedicate more energy towards two stores. If you are prepared for this, by all means go right ahead and diversify your income.

Beginners often get ahead of themselves and want to open a second store right after opening the first. I’ve been there myself so I understand this thought process. The best protocol is to be patient and only open a second store once your first store is well established. If you’re too eager and act too soon, you may sabotage your first store by neglecting it. I’ve seen this happen before and it’s sad to see.

I hope this has answered the question of “Should I start one or two dropshipping stores?”. One store is more than enough to create a full time income online, don’t forget this!
