Even if your only testing products on a general store a brand can still be built. Once you successfully find a winner, build a separate store for it and market the hell out of it. This will increase your ability to connect with your audience and ultimately drive more sales.

Building a brand should be the goal with dropshipping. You won’t get far if you’re hoping to make bank without putting in any work. Building a brand is what differentiates the big winners from the small winnners. Try to emulate some of the brands you look up to.
