Everyone wants to do Facebook ads for dropshipping. It’s not hard to see why though as there are a ton of benefits the platform offers for users. The problem is actually using the platform. It has a wide range of bells and whistles and it can be easy to get lost if you’re not careful. Compared to Instagram influencer ads and it seems like physics. The truth is though you just need to break it down like everything else.

The Benefits to Using Facebook Ads for Dropshipping

Here are some of the main advantages of Facebook ads:

Scalability – Facebook ads are incredibly scalable. You can start on $5 a day and if it’s profitable you can duplicate the ad set and double the budget to $10. You can continue to do this so long as you’re still making money. If you keep multiplying I’m sure you can see how crazy the revenue can become. Instagram influencer ads are a lot harder to scale. To do it you have to continue to seek out adverts on larger and larger accounts. The problem is each account is different so it can be less reliable.

Passivity – Once they’re set up Facebook ads don’t require much work. There are people making bank off these ads who rarely touch them. In fact you can actually outsource the whole procedure once it’s all up and running. This can give you the much coveted “passive income” that everyone wants. This is when you set up your money making machine and then sit back while it continues to make you moolah even when you’re nowhere to be seen. It’s a truly beautiful thing if you ask me. Instagram isn’t as passive as each ad must be individually set up and negotiated between you and the influencer.

Population – Everyone and their grandmother is on Facebook. I always say that but it’s true. This means the chances of your audience being on Facebook is high. It doesn’t matter if they’re cat lovers or survivalists, they’ll be on there. This means you can target them and thus reel them in to make the sale. Other platforms like Instagram and Pinterest may not have such a broad range of people available to you. This may be good in some instances but bad in others. Pinterest is 70% female which could be a plus or minus depending on your niche.

Algorithm – The Facebook algorithm is incredibly smart AI. It learns and improves upon your ads the more information it collects. This means it gets to know more and more about your audience and who is suited to your ads. Ideally this will lead to more sales which makes us dropshippers very happy indeed.

Ok now that you know some of the awesome benefits to Facebook ads let’s look at some of the best practices. As I said earlier Facebook ads is a complex platform. As a result there are varying best practices. Some experts prefer particular methods over others and vice versa. For example, some start their ads with PPC (Pay Per Click) to gather data whereas others jump straight in to conversions. This means I can’t possibly give you a full-proof step by step guide. However there are some tactics that virtually everyone can agree upon. This is what we will be talking about now:

Best Practices When Using Facebook Ads for Dropshipping

Stay organised – Facebook ads can get very messy. There can be over 100 ads running at once and if you don’t setup some kind of naming system it can be easy to become confused fast. Try to create a system and then stick to it. Record what time of conversion it is, location targeting, interest targeting and ad spend. What you choose to include is really up to you but have a look to see what others are doing. If you ever get to the stage where you can outsource your advertising it would be good to have a clean system setup. This will make whoever is coming in to take over your ads life much easier.

Expand Interests – In your Ads manager you should see a box ticked that says “Expand Interests”. I haven’t seen one person who recommends leaving that ticked. Make sure you untick it because it will make Facebook spend your ad money like crazy.

Language – No matter where you’re targeting English (All) should be selected. You can choose to target only the USA or the big 5 (USA, UK, AUS, NZ, CAN) or even worldwide excluding Africa, China, India among others. No matter where you are targeting, the audience should speak English.

Lookalike Audience – LLA is one of the most powerful aspects of Facebook ads. This is where Facebook collects data on your customers and uses it to create a highly targeted population. The best way to do this is to wait until you have one hundred purchases. After that you can create lookalike audiences based on these customers. It is very effective in allowing you to become successful with dropshipping.
